Darth Icion, the Cold - 19th Dark Lord of the Sith, founder of the Order, and accomplished Warrior.
Dark Lord Icion, known to some as Icion the Cold, was once known to many the antagonist of the Zone. Icion personally led the previous incarnation of the Order through rivers of blood, and to domination over the disputed region.
Icion's origins were well-documented by the first Order. Orphaned shortly after birth, when pirates attacked a tranport convoy upon which he and his parent were travelling, Icion survived the attack by luck and will of the Force alone. Rescued from the crippled freighter that became his parent's tomb, Icion was taken in by a travelling Sith Knight, who had felt his strong prescence in the Force. Wanting to appease her lord, the Knight presented a five-month old Icion to Darth Griffin. Griffin sat atop a fledgling one-system dominion, and decided to raise Icion to the ways of the Sith.
Darth Griffin died before seeing what the Sith would become. He did, however, lived long enough to train Icion into adulthood, and personally conferred upon the rank of Sith Lord, only two years before his death. After his death, his fledling clan dissolved. Icion, as well as the remaining Sith, disappeared off the galactic map, for many years....
Then, after years of domination by the clan, M.D., upon the contested, and resource-rich, area of the Unknown Regions, known as the Zone, Icion resurfaced. Inheriting the title of Dark Lord from his dead Master, Icion founded the Great Sith Order, along with his new disciple, Darth Rabid. Before long, the Order had carved out an appreciable power-base in the region.
But the first incarnation of the Order was plagued with troubles, fated to conflict at every turn. First, one of the most trusted members of the Order, a young Sith Knight, who's name translated from the Sith tongue into Basic meant "Lone Wolf", betrayed and waged war upon the Order. The Sith managed to repel Lone Wolf, but were left greatly diminished by his absence. After a long period of recuperation, the Order entered its first, brief, golden age. But it was during this close of this age that the Order's greatest threat arose. The clan, M.D., slowly losing their power to the winds of time, saw the Order as a threat to their domination. Manipulating old frienships and the corruption of other clans, M.D. amassed an incredible coalition against the Sith, attempting to rally the warring factions of the Zone thereby distract them from the decay of their rule.
Facing over twenty rival clans, spearheaded by the most powerful force on the Zone, the Order seemed doomed. However, the sudden return and repentance of Lone Wolf fueled a great revival in the Sith. The handful of warriors recruited the faceless masses of the Zone, the "loners" as they were called, and used their hatred of the clan dominated hierarchy to build the Sith armies. The Great Zone War ensued, a bloody conflict that toppled many of the clans and salted the ground of many worlds with blood. When the smoke cleared, M.D. had fallen, and its coalition had broken. The loner armies dissolved, disorganized by the conflict, and the Great Sith Order stood above all opposition. The handful of Sith descended upon world after world, taking control of the Zone and establishing a firm government over the entire region. They expanded this rule past the previous borders of M.D.'s dominion, and claimed complete superiority.
But, at its height, yet again, the Order was betrayed. Seeing an opportunity for power, Lone Wolf began planning a coup, under the guise that he had been insulted by Icion himself. Few in the Order bought Lone Wolf's story, and he was soon exiled from Order-controlled Space. He attempted to return with his own clan, but the effort was ill-planned and soon this second Sith clan was defeated.
But the damage had been done. Apathy had set into the Order like cancer. Weary of combat, Icion, Lord Rabid, a powerful young Sith Lord named Darth Morpheus, and Icion's then-apprentice, Apoc Quis-Huson, dissolved the falling gSo. Icion left his rank to Morpheus, instructing him to consolidate what was left of the Order and hide it away. Morpheus, in turn, left the title of Dark Lord to his own pupil, Darth Tarantulas, and disappeared. Nothing is known of Tarantulas fate, but it is known that Lone Wolf resurfaced one final time, years later, claiming rights to the title of Dark Lord. He faded away just as quickly, leaving nothing to show of the Order, or the Great Zone War, but a shattered temple, and whispered legends...
...but that was before the dark rider's descended on the Sith Temple once more, and an older, wiser, and deadlier, Darth Icion sat atop the throne once more, and re-claimed his title. He had taken a new apprentice, Darth Malice, and prepared for the war to come. For the Zone lives again, and may the Force save them all from the golden-blade of Dark Lord Icion, and the terrible power hidden behind his dark green eyes, Sith markings and battle scars.
