Apoc Quis-Huson, the Fallen. Sith Acolyte, Loyal servant of the Order, fallen Republic Jedi
Apoc Quis-Huson is something of an anamoly in the Order. A former Republic Jedi Apprentice, Apoc has never quite been able to choose between the paths of the Force. He remains in the Order only because of his loyality and friendship with Dark Lord Icion and Darth Rabid, a friendship he forged during his darker days that followed his flight from the Republic Jedi Order.
Apoc was born to a middle-class household, on Coruscant. His father was an aid to the Senator of Commenor, and therefore his family was closely tied to the Republic government. Apoc was part of the first generation scanned at birth for Jedi potential, a practice abandoned since the era of the Old Republic. He was taken from his home at only three weeks old, and brought to the rebuilt Jedi Praxeum on Yavin 4. There, Apoc underwent extensive Jedi training for the next ten years of his young life.
Taken as Padawan learner to Master Kendra Ulin on his tenth birthday, Apoc began travelling the galaxy and learning the true ways of the Jedi. He grew increasingly intrigued by the role of the Jedi, and more confident in his abilities as a potential Jedi Knight. Soon, however, his confidence in the Jedi Order would be tested, and broken.
On a mission to the Aldurn system, Kendra Ulin and Apoc were charged with resolving a border dispute between two warring monarchies. The Aldurn system was renowned for it's talent at shipbuilding, and the Aldurnian people were all human, spoke basic and had adapted to their system's recent incorporation into the New Republic seemingly well. Apoc had grown used to missions much more difficult than this was seemed to be. However, upon arrival on Aldureesh, he and his master immediatley detected some dark worm of grim intent, writhing beneath the world's fertile soil. After some time, the Master and her apprentice discovered the "border dispute" to be nothing more than an elaborate ruse, meant to attract Republic attention. The Aldurnians planned to take hostage the peacemakers the Republic would inevitably dispatch, and hold them ransom, at the price of their world's freedom. Their culture apparently taught that succession was akin to treason, and would incur the Republic's wrath if they merely broke off from it's league. Instead, they would use the peacemakers as tokens to negotiate legal protection from Republic attack, by the government's own laws. The fact that the Republic sent Jedi seemed only to sweeten the deal, making them believe it all the less likely the government could refuse their offer.
What they didn't plan on was the power of the Jedi. While attempting to take the two by force, the Jedi sucessfully defended themselves, and attempted to flee Aldureesh. However, in their escape, Kendra Ulin was fatally wounded by a Aldurnian sharpshooter. She died shortly thereafter, in her apprentice's arms, aboard her starship, the "Pangloss", as they took flight from the Aldurn system.
But Apoc's anger was not fully aroused until he was made to bear the Senate's decision regarding the matter. Citing "cultural misunderstanding" as justification for the murder of Master Kendra Ulin, the Senate pardoned the Aldurnians, and instead struck a deal with them. They granted Aldurn it's unpunished freedom, in return for 10% of it's total annual product. Though Kendra Ulin was marked in the history books as an honorable and great Jedi, and her funeral was attended by some of the most famed Jedi, war hero's, and politicians of the New Republic, the total disregard towards the nature of her death, and the cowards responsible that went unpunished, made Apoc believe that his master had died with no respect or honor at all. He was further disgusted by the manner in which the Jedi Order had condoned the Senate's decision.
Though Quis-Huson attempted to reconcile his beliefs to accomidate the Order, and was offered the rank of Jedi Knight for his work on the Aldurn mission, he never could fully believe in the Jedi cause again. Disillusioned, Apoc left the Order, seeking a life of solitude in the Unknown Regions.
It was merely by fate that Apoc's retreat would take him to the Great Sith Order-occupied system of Lain. His prescence was first reported by Darth Morphain, and soon after, Icion himself came to investigate the mysterious Force hermit on the barren world of Yu'kal. Sensing the darkness approaching, Apoc met Icion on his landing, and immediately recognized the distinctive arts and power that he had been taught was the defining traits of a Sith Lord. Leaping into combat, Icion's golden saber deftly blocked Quis-Huson's attack. The duel lasted only minutes, but Icion was impressed by the Jedi hermit's skill. So much so, in fact, that at the duel's close, and as Apoc Quis-Huson found himself upon his back with Icion's saber only inches from his throat, the Dark Lord spared him.
Offering to train him in the true nature of the Force, Icion took a confused and battle-weary Apoc back to the Grand Temple, upon Caraine, moon of Sethol. After recuperation, Apoc found himself doubting the very lessons he had been taught about the dark side, lessons spelled out for him since he was only an infant. Slowly, Apoc fell into the darkness of the Sith.
Years later, as the Order marched into the Great Zone War, Apoc stayed behind. Never completely had he been able to give his heart to the darkness. When the Sith returned victorious, Apoc had reached his decision. Not wishing to completely abandon the ways of the Jedi, but not being able to disregard the teachings of the Sith, he announced his desire to discontinue his apprenticeship to Icion. Instead, he offered to remain, as he researched the very nature of the Force, a question that had become increasingly more important to him over the past years. He also agreed to fight beside the Order, believing government and stability should be brought to the Zone. His balance was far from steady, trying to keep both the dark and light in check, but nonetheless, it was continuing.
And so, when the Order retreated from the Zone, Apoc went with them. And when the dark riders crested the horizon of Caraine's eastern plains that day, Apoc Quis-Huson, the warrior in the rift, rode amongst them, still questing within his mind for an answer that may never come.
